Need help reading my iPhone serial #

I just bought an 8GB iPhone yesterday at the Apple store in my city and i am just curious on how to read the serial numbers I can tell that my build date is week 38 however when i was reading the forums i noticed most everyone had R's in their serial number when mine has an S does anyone know what this means?

are you talking about the iphone or the ipod touch? the week 37/38 issues were ipod-related.
