I've been trying to get Windows 10 onto a separate Bootcamp-designated drive; I downloaded a Windows 10 .iso directly from M$'s site and burned it to a DVD.

Popped the DVD into my Mac Pro, booted, got past the Windows 10 logo, and then was presented with this error screen. I cannot progress through it whatsoever. Has anyone else had similar issues? I just want to get this installed, but it's barring me from doing so.

last time i installed windows 7 on my macpro i
pulled all drives apart from the drive i wanted windows on (gave windows a single drive)
stuck in CD
formatted drive
installed
booted and installed apple drivers
updated windows/apple software etc
re inserted all my drives

Try formatting the drive and start over.

Turns out that my Mac Pro's drive burned the disc at too great of a write speed; it resulted in an unstable installer DVD. I went back and burned a new DVD @ 3x speed. Now, it works just fine!

It’s the very first time I know this problem exist. I used to believe that as long as the disc is verified after brining, the speed doesn’t really matter.

Yeah, looks as though the disc was burned at too great a speed. I put it into another computer and set the write speed to 3x. I'm proud to say that I've successfully installed Win10 on my Mac Pro, and my RX 580 8GB is working independently and beautifully!

In this case, it’s hard to tell if really speed related.

You changed
1) Computer
2) burner
3) Speed
4) disc
5) May be the OS

There are 4-5 variables, really hard to tell which one made the difference in this single case.

But anyway, you did what you need. And congratulations, enjoy your Windows and RX580 :D

Actually, the original disc (which did not work within my Mac Pro) also did not work on that machine which I used to burn the second disk. So, there are two variables: disc write speed and OS used. So, yes: disc write speed isn't the only factor. It's less likely, though, that Mac OS's disc-writing capabilities would have faltered simply because it was burning a Windows ISO... it's just like any other ISO. The burner is also not a factor because I've burned plenty of other discs within my Mac Pro, and they worked just fine in the end. I have had this same problem with flash drives, though, which leads me to believe that it wasn't necessarily the disc itself that faltered either.

But, yeah - it all works now. I was incredibly relieved when I heard the RX 580's fans die down, after having booted the machine back up (following the removal of the GT 120). Now, all I gotta do is re-install my games and enjoy. I hope my games at least run just as well as they did within Windows 7.

Sounds good! I burned mine at 8x, for what it's worth, but glad you are in business!

I think mine burned at the maximum write speed (which is, like, 18x); so, while I could technically try 3x on the Mac Pro itself, I think it's still safe to say that there was a high chance that 18x was much too fast.
