Hi. I was trying to install Installer on my friend's iPhone that's already unlocked, activiated and everything, so I dug up the link I used to install it in my phone. She still has 1.0.2. I used this link: http://modmyifone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_3

So I downloaded the AppTapp installer, ran it with the iPhone plugged in, and it gave me the error message "Bootstrap failed, see Console log!". The instructions say that if this happens, "You can get around this by removing iTunes 7.4.1 and its plist (use AppDelete to do this) and installing 7.4 from a DMG".

I haven't tried that yet as I've run into a very big problem.

iTunes is now saying that the iPhone is in recovery mode, so now my iPhone says "Please connect to iTunes" and I can't get away from it. If I connect it, my only option is to restore it, which I don't want to do because it's not my phone and it's going to erase everything!!!

Help me please. Any response is much appreciated.

EDIT: After a bit of research, I see this has happened to a lot of people. If possible, I want to get the iPhone back to its state before screwing it up. I don't want to lose her contacts, texts, pics, etc. Through the other threads I've found, I have yet to find a solution so that's why I'm posting again...thanks.

Re: Need help restoring iPhone

Hi,

I've been experiencing the same problem as you with trying to install AppTapp on my iPhone. I still haven't been able to install it but I do have a solution to your problem with the phone being in "recovery mode".

To get your phone out of "recovery mode", you can use "iNdependence". One of the features of this program is that it will detect the phone in "recovery mode" and restore it to normal. The nice thing is that all the information on the phone will remain.

You can download iNdependence here.

Hope this helps!
