I sync all my photos from iphoto however when i try and sync photo's from another folder on my computer all the previous photo's i synced get removed off the ipad. is it possible to sync from iphoto AND other albums or not?

Can't specifically help you but I created a folder in Windows that I point iTunes into.
In that folder I have several other titled folders with the photos (resized to 2304x1536 [3:2]) linked in iTunes.
That's the only folder I use. I import into there then sync.
