I am not familiar with designing tools but currently need to come up with a t-shirt design for my club.

I do not know if I am able to post such thing in the forum but I really in need of a design for the t-shirt and really seeking for your help.

It is related to a Chemistry society and the t-shirt that have to be designed consist of only 2 colors (one the original t-shirt color and the other for the design), which means the pattern and words for the design will only be a single color. We do have a theme for the club activity and the t-shirt simply has to include some words for the activity and I think the toughest is the idea for the theme-related picture/pattern.

Please, I really need your help and please reply if any of you are willing to help. If you do need to be paid, please feel free to talk to me as we can discuss about that. Once again, I really need any of your help for the design. Thank you very very much.

With best regards,

I have not been around for a while, but last time I checked, contracting work out on this forum was understandably prohibited due to problems in the past.

However, it does sound like you know what you want so if you have Adobe Illustrator CS2 or can get access to it - You can use the template in Adobe Illustrator CS2 (CS3 or CS4 I believe) to get a head start.

Most of us do the "I don't work for free" speech and because of it asking for work to be done for you is now a no go area :)

We're willing to give pointers and help with ideas however.

Having read your post, how is it being added to the t-shirt, embroidery or transfer (print etc) as they could require different formats before being added to the t-shirt. Although I think you would be safe using a vector based design program such as illustrator for both options.

As to the imagery - you're doing chemistry, go rummage through the cupboards for some interesting shapes (tripods, bottles, test tubes etc) or look for a cool molecular pattern that could be stylised into a logo.

Hi.

If you do a Google Image search on the key word "chemistry" you will find a lot of images that will give you ideas to work from. Don't try to make your t directly from an image you find. Even it it is high rez, you aren't free to use it.
Even though it is for school, I wouldn't do that.

Dale makes a good point. Here is a site with royalty free vector graphics.

These would work great in Illustrator. Just download them and open them in Illustrator. You can then change the colours and add to, or, rivise the design yourself. Try seraching under Science and/or Chemistry. There is lots of inspiration here to get some ideas, whether you want to go with something fun like a character or more abstract like an icon or symbol - the possibilities are endless...

I never did chemistry at school, but I remember when looking at my friends chemistry home work, other than I was completely confused by it, I found the diagrams used for chemical structures very interesting from a design point.

Maybe you could get the pattern from a chemical and use that as part of your design.

Its just a thought that came to mind when I saw this post

I'd suggest a simple Periodic Table graphic. Get clever with the periodic symbol for your club, abbreviate it, do what you need to do. For the number you could do the year (09) and make up the other stuff.

This is the simplest idea I can come up with for someone who has no design experience. Research the look of the periodic table and recreate one of the boxes. Shouldn't be too difficult for a newcomer.

EDIT: Here's something I threw together really quickly:

EXCELLENT, simple and nice not like the ones you usually see made up by the T shirt printing companies the schools use.

For the design, find yourself a computer with Photoshop or Illustrator (preferably illustrator) and make your design up it that. Make sure you save it in a CMYK format (file>document color mode... in illustrator) at 300dpi; this is print resolution. Call up a local graphics store and find out how much they charge for a single-color, one-sided T-shirt job (and you'll need to know how many you want to make). You'll probably want to give them the file in a pdf format, so be sure to have an email address you can send the file to.

If there are no print shops near you, I recommend CustomInk.com.

I've done a bulk order of about 100 t-shirts from them before, the quality is pretty good.
