Just recieved an iPhone off of ebay, original owner said he hit the "restore button" that supposedly put it back to factory defaults. When I plug it in to itunes, it detects the iphone, but doesn't say the capacity, version, or serial number.

I have my T-mobile sim in.

I can't get it to unlock, and I've tried both ziphone and winpwn.

When I try ZiPhone, it searches for the iphone consistantly.

When I do winpwn, 1.1.4, it says "iphone is in recovery mode" with "cancel" at the boottom, and does nothing else.

I've looked at youtube videos and I can't get it to work.

Any help?

I'm usually not this illiterate when it comes to technology, but it's pissing me off.

Just simply use iTunes to restore the software. It sounds like a botched software install.

TEG

I've tried that several times with the same result... I can get to the main iphone page where you slide to unlock, and the emegency caller, but that's it.

Have you tried calling Apple Support? They're very helpful.

Would they really be so keen on helping someone unlock the phone, thereby voiding the warranty?
