iPod Need help with an "Ipod photo"

I am trying to reset my ipod to factory settings. At the moment there is a picture on the screen of the ipod which is the Power Adapter and a wall outlet.

Is this picture supposed to go away as soon as it is plugged in, or does it take some time for the ipod to reset? If so, how much time does this usually take?

At this point you must plug your iPod into a wall charger. Plugging into your computer will not do. It must be connected directly to an AC outlet.

And yes, it should continue on its own after you've done this.

It has been connected to a wall charger for well over 30 minutes now. With the icon still there

Nevermind, it started to work as soon as I hooked it up to a car charger..
