I have an 2009 iMac.
Im trying to install Windows 7 (SP1) on it via an USB Stick. (4GB)
But, when i insert the USB Stick, in the boot menu it does not get detected. It does on my other Mac, and i can boot into it.
It works when i do it with Windows 8.1/10 and Ubuntu, but i really want Windows 7 on it.
Any solution? Ive tried making it bootable with Boot Camp Assistant, unetbootin and Rufus. None of them worked.

I tryied the same thing, looks like windows 7 uses legacy mode install, wich on iMac is detected only with DVD-R, im using windows 10 on my mid 2011, but already tryied to install with USB Stick, ill try DVD-R windows 7, if i get any sucess ill reply there, good luck bro.

Alright, I'll bite: Why in December 2020 (almost 11 months to the day following Windows 7's end of support date) are you wanting to run Windows 7 SP1 and not something supported like Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 v1909 or newer?

I am running Win 7 on a 2012 Imac fully loaded ( 32 GB Ram , 512 SSD ) and its running as fast as my other computers ... and still enjoy Win 7... Hated Win 8 Win 10 better but nothing like Win 7 ... Jet Blue still uses Win 7 .. LOL

JetBlue has the money to pay for extended support, which isn't available to consumers.

The point is that using Windows 7 in late 2020 might as well have you painting a bright sign on the front of your computer that says "PLEASE HACK ME, MY PASSWORD IS PASSWORD123"
