Hello

hi, I can't get my EGPU to work with my NMP.
I managed to get it working a few things but connection seems unstable, I've already installed the eGPU script.

Problems I faced are
1) I cannot boot with the EGPU plugged in.
2) I can get the EGPU recognized if I plug it in after boot, but does not show up when running LUX mark.
3) Overall I just can't get it to work consistantly.

I have the Akitio and also the R9-390x

Any general tips to help me get it working?
thanks.

no direct experience w/ R9-390x

For nMP & AMD RX 480: plug the thunderbolt cable in after the chime, when the apple logo shows, but before the bar starts loading - perhaps this will work with the R9-390x

GTX Titan X doesn't those problems for me.

If you're running 10.12.2 or newer this issue is with your Boot ROM Version and possibly a software restriction for AMD cards. We've noticed this occurrence with AMD eGPU running 10.12.3.

I'm on the latest 10.12.3

Is there a workaround at the moment?

I know 10.12.3 has been causing issues for TB3 to TB3 connection on non-Touch Bar MBP. automate-eGPU script should work in 10.12.3 through older Thunderbolt connections. Per Goalque "if there is an AMD issue via TB2 connection, most likely kernel caches are not up-to-date, or the framebuffer kext conflicts with the AMD dGPU."
