Need help with installing ram in iMac G4 800 mhz

I read up on how to do it, but it made it look so easy. I had no problem opening up the iMac to get to the user installable ram. I can't make it fit in the slot. I ordered it from crucial and am 100% positive it is the correct ram, I even read the small print on the ram module to check. There is this stupid plastic sheet that I at first thought I had to remove, but left it guessing it is to protect the chips below from the user installable airport card and Ram. I already have spent an hour going through google and kept getting the same sites that I had been to. Crucial wasn't kind enough to even give directions for the imac ram installation, they gave me a standard PC type of directions in the box. The pictures suck in them too. I must say I am not impressed with crucial. They have no guides on their website for the imac g4. It should be so simple, but it's not. HELP me please. Give me a link to an actual good website and not this one:

If it won't fit the socket, then you have the wrong RAM - stop trying.

The 800 MHz iMac G4 requires PC133 SODIMMs, the 1 GHz iMac G4 requires DDR SODIMMs.

What part number RAM did you receive?

is there a trick to getting the ram in? like at an angle? I don't want to break anything. I will go get the hammer



I saw another listing of the ram on the plastic bag it comes in.

OK, I assume that the Crucial RAM is a SODIMM, and not a 4.5" long DIMM, correct?

Have you matched the groove in the module connector-edge with the key in the socket? It is off-centre so you may need to flip the SODIMM over.

THe SODIMM pushes into the socket connector-edge first at about a 30 degree angle, the connector pins push almost all the way into the socket - you should see none of very little (< 1/32") of the gold connector remaining showing. Then the module rotates down into the horizontal position, where the clips on the sides of the socket engage the module's board. You will hear 2 gently "snaps" as the clips engage. If they do not engage the board, then the module isn't properly inserted in the socket.

Careful with the clips, esp. the plastic variety.

Well I got it to work... I thought the plastic was going to break off so I was hasitant. I still think they could have at least gave a guide with the module.
