Hi, I have a 2010 27" iMac and our workplace just purchased a new MacPro and 27" Thunderbolt display.

So on the iMac there is only usb, Ethernet and a firewire 800 port. On the MacPro there is no firewire port, but on the Thunderport Display there is a FireWire port. I have a ton of files/apps that I would like to migrate using the fastest option I have available and that is the Firewire 800 port.

If I hook up the iMac to the TD with FW800 can I transfer files to the MacPro? or will I need to purchase Apple's Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter?

Any thoughts of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Richard
