Hi,

I am sort of an idiot when it comes to basic things on my iMac 27in (2012). I am trying to clear the hard drive off and am not sure if it is failing or what, 'cause I keep deleting things (and yes, I emptied the trash) and the hard drive doesn't move much. I have attached some screen shots of the disk utility display. I was wondering what the hell is going on here? Please if anyone can give me some insight I would be grateful! Thanks

Well, I have moved my iTunes to an external drive and I tried deleting the original iTunes media folder on my hard drive and it didn't do anything. So I am guessing there is an alias or something somewhere.

Trolle, in order for anyone to help you - we must be clear what you are trying to do with your iMac?

Do you want your iMac hard disk wiped with a new version of macOS installed?

No, not wiped, i just would like to figure out where all my files are. I have looked everywhere and used multiple apps to determine where all these 100’s of gigs are. I have moved my iTunes folder (340gigs) To an external hard drive and then i deleted the folder from my hard drive and nothing changed. I was trying to figure out if the internal hard drive is failing or what.

This must be a bug in Catalina or something. I have heard of another person having trouble with the available space remaining showing up wrong amounts. Anyways, hopefully it will get fixed in the next update. Thanks
