Just got my new MBA today and tonight attempted to do a clean reinstall as outlined in the MacRumors guide here ... Guide

I am using my iMac DVD drive for a remote install as I do not have an MBA SuperDrive. No problems getting the MBA to start the installer, but whenever I get to the Welcome screen after selecting my language, the install hangs on the MBA and I get the spinning beach ball indefinitely. The drive on the iMac is not spinning at all. The Remote Install utility on the iMac shows the progress bar just spinning the blue barber pole color and says "Waiting on Mac OS X installer..." I have been through this three separate times with the same result every time. This is just between steps 3 and 4 in the guide. I never reach the point where I have a Utilities menu. Anybody to the rescue? I don't have an Apple store here and it will be days before I could get ahold of a SuperDrive to hook up.

Thanks!

Sorry, but it sounds like you need technical assistance from the Apple Genius Tech. Not sure how Remote works b/c I have a SD. Good luck. Keep us posted, b/c that's an interesting situation.

Well after some research I decided that my problems must be with the Wifi router (linksys, not Airport). I found a local place about 20 miles away that carried Super Drives (no Apple Store in our area but one set to open soon!) and went out and bought one. Then managed to reinstall OS X without a hitch and all seems well.
