Hey, I just sold my unlocked iphone and wanted to remove all my information before i shipped out the phone. I have version 1.0 and wanted to know if general>reset>erase all content settings would be safe? Will it remove the lock? I just want to remove all my information thats it and keep it unlocked. Thanks!

Just restore your phone to 1.1.4 through itunes and unlock the phone again. Make sure you select restore and not upgrade and that should take care of it.

DO NOT restore your iPhone through iTunes. When you restore apple automatically downloads and installs the newest firmware. So if you restore it will install 2.0 which as of right now you can't unlock (will probably be able to before the end of this week).

That's not true, actually. Or at least, it wasn't for me when I restored through iTunes using iTunes 7.6.2 (and that may be the difference). It downloaded firmware 1.1.4 for me. You can certainly cancel out of the restore after it downloads -- it'll present a big screen with the number of the firmware that it's downloading that you have to agree to.

Well to be safe you could always look around for the firmware file and save it to your computer and restore by holding shift and then clicking restore. Either way you have to restore the firmware to completely wipe your phone.

Im not really looking to upgrade the firmware or anything like that. I just want to reset the phone settings like erase all my numbers, calendar, weather, email, photos, etc. I sold the phone so I want all my information off of it. Any suggestions? would general>reset>erase settings and content mess up the unlocked or would that be ok to erase all my info and keep it unlocked?

erase settings shouldn't touch the unlock. It should be fine.
