just bought a powermac 1.8 from a friend.
i dwnloaded yahoo messenger and windows media player for mac. it saved to my desktop. but when i try to open it, it does nothing.

i have stuffit standard 9.0 in my application folder.
even when i click on it to open it the icon expands a little and ......nothing

i just downloaded adium and it was dmg. i clicked to open it and a box came up and said : following disk images failed to mount, no mountable file systems

oh well if you already have it, mb drag and drop the bin file on to the stuffit expander application. or right click and see if it is one of the ways to open the file. You can also get the info of the file and in the window the "open with" section you can select whatever app you want it to open with. if those doesn't work then its probably cause stuffit 10 is the new one and you might have to install it.
