Hi I'm tinking of buying a white MacBook but I'm not sure if it is the right laptop for me. I'm a 15 year old who has never used a mac before just normal windows. Do you think I should go ahead and buy the macbook?

You'll definitely find using a Mac much easier, that's for sure. That's the one thing I advocate the most: Easier for everyone, but powerful for super-users. What types of things are you in to? I'm sure if you posted your interests, other posters would be glad to explain why a Mac is good for each.

Well I'm pretty much interested into a lot of things, fashion, movies, taking pics,etc... but i also need it for school since i've got a bit more time in school. Do you think that it will still be good to use in college? like for the next 5 years?

it would def be worth getting. after maybe 3 days youd be used to it!! very easy to use. the makbook might only just alst u the 5 years. a macbook pro on the other hand would def last you. depends on what u want really

funny you mention this - someone I know's macbook's screen died after three years, but thats probably more unlucky than common. anywa, it really depends on what you're using your macbook for, I mean, if all you really want it for is internet, typing, and sometimes tinkering with photoshop and stuff I'd say it could hypothetically last you five years.

that said, i would definitely buy a macbook over a pc. the only way i'd go back to pc is if I was really tight on budget and needed the tech specs.

a macbook pro would more definitely last you five years, but its probably overkill right now and too expensive to be worth it.

if its gonna last 5 years...wouldnt it be better than 2 or even 3 lappys for half the price?

maybe yes, but we don't really know what she's using it for, and depending on that, the macbook could actually last the same as a pro - and then, when she turns 20, she can use that money she saved to help buy a pro (or whatever they call it in 5 years) to actually do things she needs it for (that is, if she does).

also 2 grand plus will be a hard sell I think - it would be like me asking my parents for 300 hundred dollar oakleys that would last a lifetime because buying them would actually save money and my eyes in the long run (which is actually probably the case).

No...

Go spend time at an Apple store or visit with friends who could show you the ropes... then when you think you know what you are getting into... buy your Macbook.

Buy the Mac. I did the exact same thing as you. I was alwways using Windiws and I just decided to buy a Mac. But you will find it more helpful if yoi don't make your thread called NEED Help!!! Be more specific in the title.

Definetely go for it. Don't however get the low-end white macbook, as then you're very limited in that you can't even burn a dvd! Like someone said, go to an apple/computer store and test drive a mac and see. I'm making the switch this summer when i return from hawaii! I'm so excited but annoyed as I have the money but can't spend it yet!

I too am 15. I intend to get either a low end MBP or Maxed out macbook. I was going to get a desktop but i'm going to wait 2/3 years then both can do me for college.

I say go for it. You're into fashion? What could be sexier to carry around than a white macbook? LOL, just go for it!

You don't need the MacBook Pro - you won't take advantage of it from the list you gave.

The MacBook is a sexier more fashionable laptop than the 'Pro and is more portable.

Just wait until you get it and see how many hours of fun you have with Photo Booth..;)
