Hi all, currently I have a boring HP Pavilion laptop. I’m a web & app development student and I want a nice Macbook that will last at least 5ish years. Macbooks are known for their superior build design, which is why I’m even more interested.

Cooling is a big factor in a laptop’s lifetime. Is the MBP’s cooling system better than MBA’s? I assume it is, because MBA is really thin compared to the other

I don’t want to spend more than €1600. What would be the best option of these two? 256 GB I think should be enough for my usage. On my HP I have a 128gb ssd + 1tb hdd and I have like 50gb left on the ssd, including all my college work and stuff and Windows. I don’t even use the hdd lol.

16gb RAM would be nice for my coding apps though

as a developer, mbp 2020 is cool, from design, i like it.
but 1600 for 8th gen processor? im not, if you willing to pay more, get 10th gen processor.

why you dont buy used 2019 model, 16" or 13" with 16 RAM dan 512SSD, i think it will better.

as an developer and lecturer, im not sure that we need the new one of processor model, even me still using 15 late 2013 for running android studio, xcode and visual studio and all is running smooth with 8/256 config :p

Agree with @lagisibuk

For web development, get the larger 16" screen - you can find the 2019 16" MBP on the used market from Apple refurbished, Best Buy Outlet, and eBay.
I use my 16" MBP with a 27" Thunderbolt display for desktop use 99% of the time.

I also have an older 2015 MBP with the magic keyboard that I still love - it's my workhorse business computer and it runs all my remote desktop jobs...

Ok. I’m not very keen about 2nd hand electronics but I will take a look, thanks.

also, for my usages (coding and stuff) 8 or 16GB ram? Like Lagis already listed, I use visual studio, webstorm, phpstorm etc..

p.s I can probably get around €400 for my old laptop

nowdays, please go with 16gb, ram is more important than processor for developer.
