Not sure if it is a good title lol.

Anyway, i used to have a galaxy s3 that i sold to get an iPhone 5. Not because android sucked; i actually find the iphone 5 and S3 to have exact same battery life under my usage and the responsiveness was great; but because i was tired of touchwiz and the samsung device was sort of putting me off with its plastic build.

Another big issue was the app quality and that i preferred over the "openness".

However, i have figured that the stuff i use a smartphone for (browsing, calendar, email, alarms, reminders, very light navigation and mapping, tons of music, very light videos - almost none, messaging and IMs, social stuff, extremely light gaming) is actually performed by android devices as well as the iPhone 5.

Now a lot of the stuff i would force myself to do on a 4 inch or even a 4.8 inch screen like reading books and PDFs, watching movies, using some editing (PDF and photo/movie) and similar would be much easily done on a tablet. After actually using a coworker's ipad, i find why i never care to open gooodreader on my iPhone but would love it on the iPad. I "need" a 8-10 inch screen to fully enjoy stuff.

And here is where the mix comes in, with google announcing the nexus 4 with decent specs for once for a steal price of $349 for 16GB ( 8 is a tad too little with music etc). The price is brilliant for a smartphone that can check all boxes for me.

I am thinking if i sell the iPhone 5 unlocked for more than $700 (they still go for $800 or more here in Canada), i could snatch a nexus 4 and an iPad 3 or mini for sub $400.

So, would you take that choice? I just want to see if people with real experience have any insights to share. I know some would say get a nexus 7, but there are some ipad only apps that i want to use and would not be able to enjoy on N7. Tablet will most probably stay an iPad.

Also would you take the mini over say, an iPad 3 or rather buy an iPad 2 instead of either of those?

Reason for not going with iPad 4 is that i am not looking for the latest and greatest that requires me to spend more money as even old Apple devices tend to perform amazingly well (my wife's iPhone 4 runs heavy 3D games with not even a flinch, impressive).

Sound off!

The nexus 4 is amazing. What I would do is go all Android, but if you require an iPad as your tablet, you would be fine using both. I do the same as you, my phone for productivity, email, light web browsing, and my tablet for the other stuff. I use an all Android ecosystem, but that's just me.

Go with a Nexus 4, and an iPad 3 or 4. Do not go with the 2 or Mini. Going from the high-res N4 screen to an iPad 2 or Mini would pit a strain on your eyes.

Go with what you enjoy, this was just my 2 cents.

iPhone/WP8 + Windows 8 Pro tablet. If you go iPhone + a Windows 8 Pro tablet, you can have iTunes to sync your iPhone with, plus the ridiculous number of desktop apps that have been released over the years (e.g. Starcraft 2, real Photoshop and the full MS Office suite, with Publisher etc.), plus all the Metro touchscreen apps from the Windows 8 Store. If you go WP8 + W8 Pro, you get all that plus easy syncing to and from Skydrive, plus you have all your stuff from your MS account synced between devices (e.g. XBox Music).

The windows 8 Pro tablets are going to be >$1000 most likely. That's a lot of money

Im in a dilemma too. I have a Galaxy Nexus (which i'm about to sell), an ipod touch 5g (love the size and ios apps) and a galaxy Note 10.1 (used for drawing and as a laptop with bluetooth keyboard).

I just ordered a ipad mini and i really want the Nexus 4 as my primary phone and hotspot. That means i'll be carry up to 4 items at a time. Something has to give. Im leaning towards returning the ipod touch and replacing that with the ipad mini as my primary ios device. I feel ios works much better in tablet form and the ipad Mini is almost the perfect tablet.

What do you guys think?

Nexus 4, Galaxy Note 10.1, and iPad Mini. Get rid of the iPod Touch

Not necessarily, there was a guy on here who got a Samsung Windows 8 tablet with an Intel Clover Trail processor for $599.

The new Atom processors sound like they do a pretty good job of delivering performance, battery life and x86 compatibility for a decent price.
