In Mobile Me, Apple assumes that the correct store of information is in MM, which updates the Mac, which updates the iPhone. Nonsense! There HAS to be a source, and it ain't MM! I've learned to deal with this between the Mac and the iPhone (by not letting sync change the phone data), but not between the Mac and MM or between the iPhone and MM. There should at least be a choice to REVERSE the flow so that the IPHONE is the source of calendar and contact data, which it is in my case. I always create new calendar entries on the iPhone - NEVER on the Mac or MM. Same with contacts. So why can't I force the Mac and the iPhone to update all MM information? Mobile=>Office=>Cloud. Why is this so hard for Apple to understand? So what am I missing here?

When I first did my setup I was on Windows and I believe I could replace MM with what was in Outlook. However, this was a one time thing. I think Apple has it right. MM is the Server and where the data is stored, I.e. The Cloud. The iPhone, Mac, Outlook are all Clients that update the Server which then updates all other Clients.

I agree. It is obvious that one creates the new contact on the iPhone. Same with new calendar events, never on MM. Furthermore, MM has turned the new iCal into Zen-Cal (you may meditate while you wait the syncing of the newly created calendar event).

It is ok that the server is generally the owner, but you should be able to define ONE master imput: example, your iPhone or your iPad.

I guess I do not understand the point of a "master input". Let's say you have a Mac Desktop Computer and a Mac Laptop and a iPad and an iPhone. I have all but the Laptop. During the day I am on the Desktop using the Mac Apps to update my mail, calendar, contacts. When I leave for lunch I might be using my iPhone to do these things and then on the weekend or in the evening I might be using my iPad. All of these "clients" are updating the Cloud which is MM and the Cloud which is MM updates all of the other Clients. This works GREAT for me. Almost sounds like you guys want you iPhone to be the Master and have you Mac and iPad Sync with your Phone. Anyway that is my 2 cents.

Yes. This is how it works now. I personally use it without any problems on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. I know 3 others in my family doing the same thing. The only problems that we have had is with trying to use http://www.me.com. That is very slow. However, if using the Mac Apps (mail, address book, calendar) we have no problems. But it is extremely important to understand that the Master Information is in MM (the cloud) and not in any of your clients/devices. Example: If I every feel that my calendar on my iPhone is not in sync with MM (the cloud) I can just remove if from my phone (i.e. set calendar to OFF) which will then delete all the entries on my phone then turn it back on and within a minute or so it is reloaded from the cloud.
