So just bought a laptop last week for school (Sadly not a mbp but with same specs as high end for about 1/4 price) and plan on converting my 2006 mac pro into a server. A sibling as an extra raid array just laying around but I haven't been able to find a raid card for this computer, anyone know where I can find one?

what type of RAID array? external or internal? PCIe, fiber, etc? they can all be configured differently, so that info is needed.

Its an external one and I don't have a fibre channel card at the moment. Just bare bones Mac pro

Take a look at Areca and ATTO for OSX compatible RAID cards.

Please note, that you'd need to use enterprise grade HDD's, not consumer models if you want it to work properly.
