I just ordered an iPad Pro 9.7 and want to get the Apple pencil. I need recommendations for a case/cover. I want a sleek case/cover maybe transparent backed.

I also was wondering how people carrying their pencil and ensure it does not get lost or damaged. I will probably only use the pencil occasionally. Do you have a case with a pencil holder or loop. Do you have a dedicated pencil case? Or something else?

i have the UAG case for my IPad Pro 9.7. black color and a loop the pencil. it's rugged and has a front cover to protect the screen. i love this case!!!

Apple silicon case with Apple Smart Keyboard and the clip from a Pentel p-205 mechanical pencil on my Apple Pencil so I can clip it to my ASK.
Also have zagg glass screen protectors.

I have a small backpack that all my gear goes in. When the Pencil is not in use it goes in one of the dedicated pencil holders in that bag.

I work in medicine, and carry my iPad and Pencil in my white coat pockets. For the iPad I usually use Otterbox Defender cases, but went with a Unicorn Beetle Pro case (much cheaper than the Defender, but also doesn't feel as secure... but gets the job done for me). For the Pencil I use a case from Ztylus. It's "twist" activated; twist it to bring the Pencil's tip down for use, and then twist it again the other way to withdraw the tip into the case. Aside from protecting the tip and exterior, the big benefit is that it provides a pocket clip, so I don't need to worry about it easily sliding around or slipping out of my pocket. I'm currently using the standard plastic case, which adds on a bit of bulk; it's not heavily, but it makes the Pencil handle like a Sharpie marker in the hand. They just released their new aluminum "slim" case. I've ordered one and can report on it here if people are interested. Otherwise, I've been pretty happy with the Ztylus and can recommend it if that's the type of product you're looking for.

I have the new sim version (did a review in the forums, if anyone's interested). I absolutely love it. I no longer worry if I accidentally throw it in the large compartment of my purse with a zillion other things.

I've tried several cases that include a Pencil holder, but don't like the bulk it adds. I use a stand at home and have to take the back off to use it when there's a large pencil bump. I haven't tried any that have the holder on the side, mostly because they seem too big/bulky.

I know this is too old for this guy but I just bought from Apple website STM Dux case - it protects front and back and is very sturdy and it has an inside slot to hold the pencil. I have looked and looked and what I want is a lightweight cover/case like Apple sold for iPad that completely protects and is easy to hold on to if you have slippery fingers. This STM case while very protective is not

[doublepost=1491205678][/doublepost]Though this post is old, it is still very relevant as Apple didn't think enough of their customers to solve the case and pencil issue. Most of full cases (Apple or 3rd party) that correctly fit the camera and buttons are just to heavy. What is the point of a super light powerful device when the protective cases weight 8-15 ozs and up so you end up lugging and trying to hold on to 2 lbs - difficult for us seniors with hand issues and many disabled folks. You have to have something that helps prevent the slippery iPad from crashing to the floor - again lots of options but the weight. My 3rd gen. iPad I purchased Apple's full cover/case - the synthetic microfiber fabric and hoped to use my old one. I mean it's screen size was 9.7" so I assumed the new 9.6" pro would fit too....Rutro! Apple decided to shrink the bezel and not tell us so that started a search which yielded very little options and nothing light and only a couple with pencil option. Most with pencil option are in loops, or velcroed to cover, or some other not efficient method. Who wants the pencil hanging off the front where it can in less than a second, disappear. At least inside the case, someone has to open it to get it and hopefully you will have noticed before they disappear with your $100 toy. There are millions of iPad Air options but they don't fit the camera and buttons well and of course, not pencil option. I ended up ordering the STM Dux case from Apple site with pencil storage inside. The issue is the button slots are covered and you can barely if at all do screen shots if you have weaker hands and the same goes for the home/power reset function - I have to pull it out of case to do any of these. I will most likely get an exacto knife and cut the slots hard plastic covering out on buttons. The case is way too heavy at 13-14oz. BUT it is very protective and corners are well cushioned so for travel or school it could be quite helpful. The clear plastic part on the back scratches easily. The pencil slides into it's little slot very well and the case has a wrap around closure to keep everything contained. This brings us to another place where Apple lets us down. To charge the pencil you take the tiny cap off and insert into lightening charger OR for full charging, you get a tiny adapter that works with your iPad charger and you remove the tiny cap and plug everything together. THE PROBLEM - they are two tiny little pieces and what the devil do you do with them while charging because they are white super tiny and like the pencil very slippery - lose them in your bedsheets and you have quite a search on your hands. Gosh forbid in a thick carpet or even worse your children or pet get hold of them and swallow. Think antibiotic pill size and you understand. I though I was smart, and would get the 3-party Apple Pencil cozy - it glow neon green at night and one piece keeps cap with pencil and the other piece keeps charging adapter with lightening cable. SMART, right? No...with these little rubbery devices on the pencil , the pencil won't work with the case - you can't close it and put it to sleep. Back to search...although this STM case with modifications would be great though too heavy for me for daily use. It is hard for to believe that folks who created this device don't have a clue we will need a lightweight case which holds pencil and can't come up with better charging option. I have iMac and didn't want the ketboard case but also because when I folded the keyboard out of way to just read I didn't like the bulk nor the extra weight.
