Need solution to prevent browser from opening full screen

I'm currently working on a business degree through the University of Phoenix online. Getting to the forum used as a class room is a two stage process. First you log into your class resource area. On this page there are options to download class materials, access tutorials, get grades, etc. There is also a link "Go to Class", which is the only way I know of to get to the class forum. When you click this link the forum opens in a new window. Not that big of a deal, but the window opens full screen which really bugs me. It does not matter what size the browser window is that I use to log into UoP, as soon as I hit Go to Class the new window opens full screen. I'm usually on my 30"ACD, so the class room ends up covering quite a few other windows. This happens regardless of which browser I use, at present Safari, Flock, or Firefox. I get the same behavior whether I'm at home one one of my Mac's or at work on my Dell. Any ideas on how to tame this thing. I tried tech support at UoP but I'm not to confident I'll get an answer from them. It's been two weeks since I sent in a tech support ticket with no response, but based on past experience with them I kind of think "reboot your PC, Oh wait your on a Mac, well that's your problem" is about the extent of what they can offer. Not really sure if they could even figure a way out of a wet paper bag. Oh no , looks like this turned into a rant. Well thanks for reading, hope some ones got an idea.

Within Firefox if you go to Preferences > Content, then hit the Advanced button to the right of JavaScript Enabled there's a checkbox for Move or resize existing windows. Make sure this is unchecked.

For Safari, you can check out this option, though haven't used it myself. You can also try opening the offending link in a new tab by right-clicking on the link and choosing that option. Hopefully Apple will get with the program and add this option natively.

Hey, not trying to be a douche, but is that place legit? My mom went to an online college for awhile and they were basically a money-hungry diploma mill that basically passed everyone that went to it and whose diplomas were worthless. Just want to make sure you don't get taken advantage of.

A lot of what we have to do is team based. I'd say about half of what I have seen from fellow students so far is 8th or 9th grade at best, so there is some validity to your statement. The school is accredited though so I'm not too worried. My reason for getting a degree is to advance into a management level at a company I've been with for nearly 20 years. At this point I think that it is more about the piece of paper itself, then who I got it from. Thanks for the concern though, it is a question that's crossed my mind. My take on online education so far is they are all pretty much the same. If any one has other experience I'd love to hear it.

Thank you so much for the resizing tip! That has helped me with the annoying "fill the screen" issue with UoP. Anyone have any ideas on how to make the forum posts work correctly with Safari? When I try to post, my messages are filled with HTML code and no one is able to read my messages properly.

My wife took a master's class at UoP online and she would say it's more difficult than a normal classroom. Her biggest challenge was getting timely responses from her "professor."

Anyone have any ideas on how to make the forum posts work correctly with Safari? When I try to post, my messages are filled with HTML code and no one is able to read my messages properly.

Use Firefox. UoP isn't Safari friendly Be sure to provide that feedback - you would think an ONLINE university would support the major browsers
