Hey guys,

Like most of you, I've practically obsessed over cracking into and playing with my favorite new expensive toy. Now, I'm at the point where I want to start developing my own programs. I want to start off with something simple - my program would be called the iNigel (named for my snake) and would allow for me to keep track of when I feed said snake (like I said, simple).

Here's my problem - I'm running Leopard (10.5.1) and my iPhone is, regrettably, a 1.1.2 OTB that was clean restored to 1.1.3 before I re-jailbroke it back to 1.1.3. I know there are some issues that currently exist with developing programs on 1.1.3 and all of the information I can find on the toolchain seem to be outdated or require older versions of software I'm using. I know there's probably not a good chance I could jump right into programming directly on the iPhone. My programming experience is somewhat limited, with a good amount of experience in Java being my only resume entry. I've already signed up on the Apple Dev site and I've done some simple google searches for ideas but I've hit a dead end.

If anyone could help me find a starting point in terms of just programming on a Mac I would really appreciate it. What I'm looking for is some pretty comprehensive tutorials to get familiar with the programming language I'd be working with as well as any sort of SSH tutorials (I'm completely unfamiliar with it) I would need for when I get to the actual iPhone portion of my project. Consider this my new waste of time hobby, since my old one (Call of Duty 4) ran out of steam.

Thanks in advanced fellas (and ladies)
