hi guys been playing around with an app idea for a while in my head, recently I got an iPhone and while having a conversation with a co worker he said why don’t you develop that app? So now I’m here with no programming experience or hardware I’m looking to start developing. what I need to know, is what’s the best Mac I can get on my budget of approximately $ 600- 700 and any tips for a total beginner. Looking at buying one from Swappa

For that budget, a MacBook Air is your best bet I think. Hook it up to an external display for development, though.

And if you are a total beginner you might want to check out Xojo for making an iOS app. It would be a lot simpler to work with than Xcode, which can be a bit daunting for beginners.

With your budget I will buy a Mac mini 2014 i5 8GB with a 120GB SDD drive for improved speed. Around $400 on eBay. You can install a second SDD drive in this machine.

A wide screen monitor: 29 inch. Bestbuy has those on sale most of the time for $220 dollars. You need to have Xcode open and a eBook or web browser, So the wider the screen, the better.

This system will be good for the next 3 years for basic stuff, if you want to program some Tensorflow stuff, then you need a 2018 MacBook Pro.

Thanks for the reply I ended up getting a MacBook Air 13 2015 model 8gb ram 128 SSD since I live in Trinidad and Tobago I’ll be receiving it Saturday coming.
