Hello, I posted this in the wrong thread I believe so here is better.

So I just broke my 11 inch 2021 M1 iPad pro after 3 years and welp, I use this thing every day for school notes, watch content and occasional multitasking and welp, repairs are $500 + installation and that's a nope.

Either way... I was looking to get a new one with applecare+. I definitely do not want to carry this one around anymore as one more hit and its totally over although the screen and tactile is *apparently* ok (yesterday I couldn't type anything but now it works normally for some reason). And lets face it, I'm an apple user so one of the things I hate the most is carrying a broken screen around throwing pieces off and risking a drop of water killing it.

My point is that I'm debating if the lighter weight and display is worth the $899 with back to school offer. I'm also trying to look for advice to comfort myself before doing such a decision because its not exactly cheap but I'm willing to spend it.

What would you say? I definitely won't want to downgrade to the air with touch id and no face id so IDK.

Do you need more power or more storage? If not, $549 repair might end up being your most economical option. Essentially they swap it out for a remanufactured (for all intents & purposes, "new") iPad.

In USA, at least, Apple will add AC+ after the repair.

Hmm I see, but seeing it that way, about 300 bucks more buys me an OLED display which might actually be attractive to watch contact with better quality. Power wise, M4 is waaaaay too OP but definitely will make the iPad be a longer term investment than spending 550 on this one... so that's why I'm debating. Thanks for your insights though his info helps a lot.

that back to school offer is really enticing.... I would upgrade - that's a lot of money for a repair. other option would be either certified refurbished or the last model new....

Ended up going for the M4 iPad pro 11 inch with AC+ at 20% discount. will take it, not a bad deal. Also with GC will purchase apple pencil :). Thanks for the recommendation, hoping to enjoy the new iPad a lot stress-free

They don’t add AppleCare+ unless you had it prior to the claim. I’ve done this before at an AppleStore.
