Need some clarity

I have 4gs upped to 5.1 and icon changedvto 4g. Wifes phone only 4g upped to 5.1 still says 3g. Any ideas? Wife called att and they stated it was correct bcs my phone was better (but was stated a bit different)

I did not know of any speed differences on the cell network between these phones. Am i wrong?

Your wife has an iPhone 4, and you have a 4s. This is why only you have the 4G on your phone.

For the record there is no iPhone 4GS, nor iPhone 4G. No -G in the names.

your 4S (not 4gs) can run on AT&T's HSPA+ network, while your wife's 4 does not. AT&T is saying their HSPA+ network is "4G".

So yes what you are seeing is correct.

Ty for the response, 4 or 4s should they not have the 4g icon? I dont recall 4s have a faster speed just processor for improved page loading.
