I need to make a spaceship crash land outside our school. I have a balsawood retro-spaceship photographed and keyed in, but I still need the contrails and fires that happen when stuff crahses. I'm planning on standing at the "site" and filming some smokebombs for the smoldering, but how can I get a good looking explosion? My only idea is blowing something up in frnt of a chroma-screen. Does anybody know of an easier way to realistic effects like this?
