I went to turn on my iMac today and nothing works. No power, external drives, no fans, nothing.
Does anyone know what this could be? Maybe the motherboard or the power supply?

yes +1 on that
2007 means logicboard or PSU or both , quiet common after that time... sorry but logicboard is beyond a economical repair , unless you get a really good price made for the replacement logicboard which i doubt as they start somewhere in the region of $600 -$900 , the costs will hover usually above a new mini and just below a new iMac 21.5 :(
if its only the PSU then its cheaper , but as the iMac is already 3 years old i guess more parts will follow soon , so you should think about if its not more economical to look for a refurbished iMac 21.5 base model

crap.........I was afraid of that

sorry to have no better news , but i have a early 2006 model shipped in early 2007 surprisingly enough it was no refurbished one and it had the same issues under the previous owner who was lucky that everything happened in the last couple month of apple care, one part after the other failed logicboard,GPU, PSU,Display,HDD,superdrive...
unfortunately they dont build things any more like they did , not only apple products ,unfortunately today is every focus on maximizing profits without price hike and not on maximizing life expectancy :(
