I am having a hard time understanding the new change in upgrading iPhone's. (Mainly because apparently things changed since I last upgraded my iPhone in 2014, and I had no reason to stay up-to-date with phone news, Lol)

So in years past, I would upgrade my iPhone every 2-years and pay $199 (with adding a 2-year commitment).

2014 - iPhone 6 ($199)
2012 - iPhone 5 ($199)
2010 - iPhone 4 ($199)
2008 - iPhone 3g ($199)

So apparently, things are different now.

Now, for what would've costed me $199, I now have to pay full $649? $449 more?

Am I the only one who thinks this is insane?

They offer the "monthly option" I guess, to soften the blow, but whether you break it down in small chunks, you are still paying $449 more, right?

Someone explain this to me.

PS.

I also heard to upgrade, I'd lose my unlimited plan that I have been grandfathered in since 2008. What!!!??How are more people not pissed off over this, LOL!
