Hi,

I got that there will probably be iPad Pro upgrades in October, but its not clear that the rest of the range will get anything. What do you think? Would you wait or buy now. I guess a standard iPad or probably iPad Air is all that is required. In some ways it seems like an incremental upgrade wont make much of a difference, unless Apple pull a surprise on us. Dunno what they might do, just wondered if any experienced watchers can give some guidance.

best to all.

It depends on if they need it now or if it can wait. If you need something for work or even important personal use, then buy it now. It’s not going to be a huge night and day change even if they come out with something.

If it’s not critical that you have it now then just wait a month. October is almost here.

Probably wait and buy the current model at discount when the new one arrives.

I don’t think the 2022 iPad Pro’s will be great if Apple introduces a Notch.

My sister wanted to upgrade from her iPad 6, I told her to wait until October, USB C is a big deal since she has a Samsung Galaxy note and Samsung laptop with USB C. Also she would love a magnetic pencil

The Air was refreshed just recently. The base iPad is pretty fast but rumours are it will get an entirely new design soon, so I definitely wouldn't get that right now.

If you plan on getting the base iPad and you don't mind the current "classic" style (personally, I love it) then I recommend jumping on the sales that are going on. Base models (64GB storage) can be found for $279 new which IMO is an insanely good price.

If you'd prefer an updated design for the base, then waiting to see what's announced would be good. Just keep in mind that it is possible that an updated base model may also include an "updated" price that would be higher than the $329 MSRP. (I'm thinking that if the design is updated, then the price will rise to $379)

Thanks to all, I am going to wait. The need for a new iPad is pressing but it looks like its worth waiting. Most think the low end will get a revamp.

Mucho thanks for the sensible opinions.

If you want an iPad Air just go ahead and buy it, if you want the base model or Pro I’d wait. We will probably have an event.

EDiT: I should have added if you want the iPad Mini just go ahead and buy that one too.

it depends what this person needs it for really. Because the other issue you will run into is IF they do a revamp on the base model, you may run into long shipping times for it as well. Can this person who needs it soon now wait until November?

Budget and use case play a big role and what iPad is a good fit. For most people the base model is more then enough
