I'm pretty sure it's not possible to change your main iCloud email address since it's @icloud.com so my only option is to create a new iCloud account I guess? Do I need to buy all apps again or can I move my purchases over?

Anyone has gone through this and can share their experiences?

You can't really change any existing email address. If you want a different email address on any service, you need to establish a new account. However, your iTunes purchases aren't tied to any specific email account. They're tied to your Apple ID, which may very well be the same as your iCloud email address at the moment.

To reassign your Apple ID to a new email address, follow this instructions at this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667.

Keep your current iCloud email address and just leave it associated with the store - you don't have to have the same email address for iCloud services and the store.

It will allow you to sign into both accounts, this is how I have it set up. In fact, my itunes/app store email isn't even a mac/me/icloud email address.

Right, but since I created my Apple ID with an ICloud email address it seems I can’t do this.

Correct, that’s an option but not one I could live it. I prefer to have it all under one email address.
