need to Jailbreak my iPhone first gen. from 2.0.1

i need to jailbreak it(unless there is even a MINISCULE chance i might brick it), i got a 16GB, and i just want a custom theme for now..but, if i mess up or if something hardware wise goes wrong with the iPhone, can i restore it, so its still under warrenty??
i also want to keep ALL of my applications(im currently running 2.0.1, but i can restore it to the 2.0 fw)

I'd like to know as well. I upgraded to 2.0.1 and the only backup I have is with the new firmware. So can I use winpwn to jailbreak 2.0.1?
