Hiya

I need to upgrade my iMac to Lion so will probably just go straight to Mountain Lion, the thing is some of the games I have will not work above Snow leopard so my plan is to create a USB bootable SL drive so hat I can play them when I like

My main question is what is the best way to do this and what happens to the data

Is it as simple as cloning my HDD to the USB one or do I simply need to have a bootable drive and leave everything else on the main drive.....will all the data be available to both systems?

I won't need access to iTunes etc via SL but can i reinstall the games on the USB drive or will they need to be on the main internal drive??

Thanks, Nick

Thing is I won't need all the content under SL so if I put SL on a USB drive then where do I install my 2 games? Do they need to go on the main drive or do they go on the USB drive??

The advice Kodeman gave in reply #2 is what to do.

Get another drive (or an "open" partition someplace).
Clone your Snow Leopard OS over to it.
Problem solved.

Superduper for sure.....but DO NOT use a USB2 drive....

Firewire 800, Thunderbolt or USB3 only...

otherwise it will take 6 hours to backup your drive, and 6 hours to restore it
