Need to re-format external drive at a new size - help?

I purchased a Western Digital 160GB hard drive back when I only had my old TiBook, and found out when I got it home and put it in my external FireWire enclosure that the TiBook could only format it up to 128GB.

I have an iMag G5 now, and finally have gotten the drive cleared off. I want to re-format the drive so that it can now make use of the extra space that was wasted before, but can't figure out how to. Disk Utility will only continue to recognize it as an 128GB drive, not its full size.

Any advice on what I need to do?

It's not the Mac, it's the Firewire case. Your cheap-@$$ firewire case has a bridge chip that doesn't support larger drives. It woulda worked on the TiBook if it was >128 capable.

No, it wouldn't - my TiBook is old enough that it could only handle drives up to 128GB in size. Trust me, I researched that part after I got the drive and realized that something was up.

But isn't that only relevant for the internal drive? I could be wrong, but a link wouldn't go astray? Where did you find that out?
