Hi I wonder if anyone could help with this issue. I have a genius appointment on Monday and Im thinking my daughters phone is going to be replaced. She is running the beta iOS and I know it can be an issue when you try and restore from a different software version. The backup that we have is 10.2.1 beta 4 and she will be unable to do a hard backup (teenager too big for the cloud) before the appointment. Is there anything we can do if the sw version is updated before she gets the new phone as I imagine the new one will have 10.2 on it ?
Thanks in advance.
I had to do this a few days ago. First, set up the new phone as a new device, then download the beta profile, update to the latest version, then restore the phone from the latest backup.
If you are in-store, Apple may be able to help you do a hard backup on one of their machines, but it may be worth it to pay $0.99 and get a larger iCloud allowance for a cloud backup before you go in. If the cost is prohibitive, you can cancel before the month is up and avoid the recurring payment.
May be a good time to go through and delete things you don't need, too... My kids have HUGE iMessage sizes due to the number of pictures that go back and forth that they don't care about anymore...
