Hello everyone! I hope someone can please help me as I've found myself in a bit of a bind.

I have a refurbished 2009 Macbook Pro. I Have it updated to El Capitan but cannot update beyond that.

My Mac came with Final Cut Pro installed. I very stupidly didn't think about whether or not it would be able to run when I updated. It will not run on El Capitan, and since I didn't buy my copy from the app store I can't update it to be able to run.

I also can't seem to be able to download iMovie, because again, I don't have the most recent version of OSX.

I am in desperate need of editing a very short video. I do not have $300 to drop on a new version of Final Cut Pro.

Is there any way I can make this programs work? Or is there another program I can try?

Thanks in advance!

Imovie is free when you buy a new Mac, and then tou can install it on any older computer.

But there are free alternatives. There is HitFilm Express that is free and you can always download Adobe Premiere and Premiere Elements for 30 day trial versions.

DaVinci Resolve is a good editor but sadly it needs a newer much faster machine to run. A mac from 2009 will not work. My rMBP (i7, 8GB) cant run it well, best is if you have 16GB of RAM to run it.
[doublepost=1515399434][/doublepost]Blender, the open source 3d software, is also an video editor and it is free. Search for ”Blender video editor” and you will find more info about it. It looks like a good free alternative to FCPX for an older computer.
