Need to upgrade my current Mac Pro: 2010, 2x, 6 core (12), w/ 16GB Ram.
I use Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop heavily. 4k video will probably be soon to follow.
I need a super fast, compatible graphics card. What is it? Quadro K5000 for mac? (Is the K5000 getting old yet?)
Any advice, as to upgrading any aspect of this current machine, is most welcome!

Current Mac Pro: Mid 2010, 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 16GB Mem, ATI Radeon HD 5870.

cpus to x5690's
graphics card to a gtx 980
ram to whatever you feel is enough for you
if you don't already have an ssd, get one.

Yes. Maybe get more than one SSD. Boot drive connected internally works great, but for streaming, might want a SATA3 card to make the most of your project SSD. Or go PCIe SSD for uber speed.

Hi BKPMax Just to add some suggestions. For the CPU upgrades you can also use matched pairs of Xeon X5675 (3.06 ghz), X5680 (3.33ghz) though there is no mention of your current CPUs and Graphic cards you're using. You may also look into Nvidia 580gtx, 680gtx, 770gtx or 780gtx. There is a performance comparison here http://barefeats.com/gpuup.html which includes the Nvidia K5000 I could not comment much on the Nvidia K5000. I think the GTX series is comparable with the K5000.

For SATA 3 SSD you may add Sonnet Tempo Pro, Apricorn Velocity Duo SSD

+1 on the PCIe SSD recommendation. It makes a WORLD of a difference in day to day use AND in workloads. I'd also upgrade your video card, as others have recommended, and even push your RAM if you can afford it. I never thought I'd see the day where 16GB wasn't enough for me, but when I'm doing real Premiere work, I always feel like I wish I had a bit more. As soon as I have spare $$ around, I'll be bumping to 32GB.
