You had a kernel panic.

You should boot from the installer DVD and run Disk Utility and run first aid on the startup disk.

i did what you told me to do....i get a message saying

invalid sibling link
volume check failed
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed.

any ideas???

stupid question, did you click verify volume or repair volume? try repair if you didnt do that already

Did you hold the C key down to force it to boot from the DVD? Disk Utility is found under the Utilities menu at the top of the screen.

"Repair" being grayed out usually means that you have booted from the hard drive and/or are running Disk Utility from the hard drive.

If your MacBook is less than a year old, then it will be repaired under warranty if it is a hardware problem.

If it is less than 90 days old, you can get telephone support. If it is over 90 days, you will be expected to pay for telephone support.

i hold alt, then i click the dvd. is that not the right way to do it? :s

shall i just format my drive completly? this is a first for me...dont know what to do

Before you format try booting into single user mode and doing the following commands: (hold Cmd + S for single user mode). Don't let this intimidate you, it's pretty simple:

type
"/sbin/mount -uw /" then return

then
"fsck -fy"

you may have to run the "fsck" command more than once, reboot and then let us know what you get.

so guys. i did what you told me....nothin worked...cheers anyways...

i formatted my drive..n now everything is up n running fine..

how often will this happen?? i dont wanna go thru all this AGAIN!!! :-O
