Need to buy USB-C dvd burner for my M2-Max Macbook. I read a lot about many not being compatible with Ventura.
Any recommendations for a great burner that works fine with OS Ventura?

I don't do any burning, but I can vouch for this Pioneer drive as working great under Ventura for reading discs, including UHD.

Note their warning that Ventura 13.2 will not read Pioneer drives. That is a bug specific to 13.2. If you are updated to 13.2.1 or later (I'm on 13.5.1 for example), then you will be good to go.

I don't know of any reason why you wouldn't be able to burn with these drives. It's explicitly supported. The bigger issue will be getting software. Burn is open source and current to Ventura, so check that out to see if it meets your needs.

On the whole any drive should work, I ended up with a verbatim just because it was one of the few true usb c drives I could find, as I hate micro 3 connector.

I ordered the Apple PowerDrive but that might not have been the best option.

For just 70 bucks more, the Pioneer can burn Blu Ray and M discs as well.

I have two Pioneer BD drives (one of which I bought back in 2015) and they work just fine with both my M1 mini and MBA which both have Ventura. The Apple SuperDrive is pretty bad value tbh considering it hasn't changed in almost 15 years and you can probably find better DVD drives for far less. IIRC it uses the same drive that was used in Macs which had a built-in optical drive and it doesn't really get that fast.

That pioneer looks to have a proper usb c port, definitely a much better option, no need to use adapters or different ended cables.
