Interesting spin. More like an op-ed piece trying to link Apple with kiddie-porn in order to make their Windows-suffering membership base feel less frustrated about all the positive press Apple has been getting.

Seems some of the responses, however, have been fairly level-headed.

I am glad that safeguards are in place, such as requiring the specific iPhone's I.D. to be registered with every photo upload, but seriously, there should be someone moderating these uploads before they get released to the public. I do not expect Apple to be responsible for every single one of the 10,000+ Apps in the App store, but each individual developer should be held accountable for any lack in common sense! (of course, we wouldn't hold TwitterFon responsible for someone uploading an illegal photo to Twitter ... but that's a completely different App. The App listed above "encouraged women to upload photos.") I hope Apple launches a serious investigation into this, and forms some new rules for the App Store to prevent repeat problems of this sort from occurring in the future.

The article seems fair - I don't know what your problem is. The site is right to point out that the application was approved by Apple.

I have no problem with a "Hot or Not" type of App. I don't see anything wrong with it if they are clothed - they can be as sexy as they want.
However, I am glad to see all of this media attention (a few days ago with the "Hottest Women" and now this) because it is "making an example" and creating a huge PR impact for Apple early on in the history of the App store that will cause Apple to become extra-protective in the future to make sure that pornography and child pornography do NOT make it into the App store.

And especially with Apple's newest commercial with the boy skateboarding, and the massive number of games for the iPod, Apple knows that children (and the parents that buy for their children) are a huge part of Apple's customer base.

How is this Apple's fault, when they approved the application the content wasn't there so if the users uploaded it, how is Apple supposed to be able to control that or should they be monitoring all the 50,000 applications. If they had approved the app with this in place, the bashers would have had a point. This is like blaming facebook, myspace for all the pictures they have on their site, many which are inapprorpriate.

I agree, it’s nearly impossible for Apple to predict what will be posted or viewed in an application. As you pointed out, it’s no different than someone posting inappropriate pics on a facebook or myspace page which is then viewable through those apps.

If you read the article, no one is saying that it is Apple's fault.
