hey-
so long story short
i get the message attached...

what i'm trying to do is share 'net over the ethernet ports
i've got 2 laptops one PB 12" 10.3.9 1.33ghz
& one iBook 12" 10.3.2 -- 500mhz

one machine (either or) will have the modem working & receiving the 'net
meanwhile the other wants to 'share'

i've got the whole sharing thing setup correctly
(as i have done this on other machines)
by selecting i want to share the net From the Modem & out via the Ethernet port...etc

i've checked the cables & tried 2 different cables- one of which i'm Positive works just fine...

& still get that message & the Yellow Light when i look @ 'network'

any clues?
i'm sure i'm just forgetting something minor

i've re-started both machines...etc

thanks in advance!

so i know macworld is coming up...

but- any ideas on this one?

thanks

Ok a tad confused from your original post, but from my understanding that screenshot is from the computer that does not have the direct connection to the internet, and is just connected to the eithernet cable right?

Do you do have Internet Sharing On (started)? Just want to make sure as I was pulling my hair out once then realized it got turned off somehow, though I swear I didn't manually turn it off. Though probably not the problem, can't hurt to check..

Also do you have 'Personal Web Sharing' on in the Sharing Preferences 'Services' section on the computer that has the active modem internet connection?
