Since upgrading to Mavericks, I haven't been able to use Netbeans 7.3.1, it just won't open. Of course, everyone will tell me to upgrade to 7.4, but the problem is that requires JDK7. I'm working on a project where the server can run a maximum of JDK6, so I don't believe I can have Netbeans 7.4 compile a JDK6 compatible JAR. Does anyone have any solutions to help me out?

I'm having the same problem, except I'm using JDK7 and Eclipse. Problem is, I require JDK7 xD

I already updated to the latest JDK (7.45) available but it doesn't seem to have helped me at all...

I don't know about Eclipse, but Netbeans can be finicky about the version of Java you are using. On my Linux laptop, I had to install the Oracle JDK; OpenJDK was a problem. (My other Java-based editor, Oxygen, installs its own JRE, and has never given me a problem on any platform).
