Hi everyone,

Experiencing very high memory usage on Monterey 12.3 Beta (21E5222a)

It is constantly there, and even if forced closed instantly comes back.

Has anyone experienced this and knows how to fix this issue?

Thank you and I look forward to some help.

netbiosd can be disabled with

Code:
sudo launchctl bootout system/com.apple.netbiosd
sudo launchctl disable system/com.apple.netbiosd

I’ve only tested with SIP disabled (csrutil disable from Terminal in Recovery), I don’t know if it will persist after a restart with SIP enabled.

Probably just the good old memory leak. This seems to be pretty common in Monterey. As others have said, you should just report the bug to Apple. That is why they do betas, after all.

Hey all, thank you for your feedback and suggestions.

I have of course submitted my report to Apple, but didn't get any reply on it.

However, I think I have narrowed down to the cause of the issue - it's somehow related to the MacOS update subsystem - I have opted out of Beta updates, restarted, and the issue has never happened again. The second I had re-enabled it, the problem was there again.

So is it something realted to update, some memory leak or perhaps Apple gathering data in a very odd way. I have no clue.

Anyone else can report the same issue with 12.3 Monterey?
