I have a 2.8GHz quad Xserve running 10.5.6. I have a few services running fine, but NetBoot failed on me. I actually run DeployStudio through the NetBoot service, but have turned off DS for now. The service worked until recently, nothing changed. AFP, SMB, etc. still work fine.

Everything appears to be in order. The service is active and shows my images available, but I can't connect a client Mac to the server. The log looks like the server is seeing the client MacBook, but doesn't connect to the service to continue. Any thoughts?

Here's the log:

Here's the log:

Had this a few times randomly...
The client fails to get an IP address off your server (DHCP) or one of the services needed to push out the image is broken...
Check for NFS and TFTP errors, the boot files are sent out via TFTP, the image itself with NFS (or HTTP if your prefer)
Can be a combination of things but you need to check your DHCP is working okay (easy just fire up a client Mac on your network and make sure you get an IP address in Network Preferences)
Also check NFS is running on the server, and check the /Library/NetBoot/NetBootSP0 folder is still there and okay, I've reshared that in Server Admin, check it's an NFS export too
Worth also checking there are no DHCP/NetBoot Filters on in the NetBoot service, and could restart a few services (especially NetBoot) just in case

If DHCP service fails on 10.5.x server, the problem usually lies in the config file: /etc/bootpd.plist

Sparing you some time: delete that file, and simply re-configure DHCP service.
