Netflix app on iPad why can't you stream at 4k?

I know most people won't care but if we had the connection speed for it we should be able to stream at 4k.
 
Comparing with Apple TV 4K which has weaker components - even the 2017 Apple TV 4K (which has the A10X only) supports 4K on Netflix. It’s more like a deliberate decision on Netflix’s side.

Because Netflix is terrible to integrate new features, especially when it’s regarding Apple (Spacial Audio, and I can bet they will not support SharePlay either)

Can you even notice the 4K difference on an iPad screen? I was told you can't notice the difference between 720p and 1080P unless you reach 32 or 42 inches screen

I could see a difference between 720p and 1080p - how I found out that Amazon Prime app displays only 720p while website in Safari does 1080p (on a 12.9 iPP).

Looks like the distance from screen is the key factor, the more you are back the less you notice it, so maybe you noticed it because you hold your device screen too close.

If you're viewing 4K content on a 4K TV and you sit at the optimal distance for a 1080p TV, a 4K picture will be on your screen, but your eyes will see 1080p.

No, I do not hold my device too close. I could distinctly see a lack of detail.

too close is few feet away. Article is referencing TV monitor distance, you are speaking of iPad/iPhone so it can not be further than your arm therefor you will notice a difference. The further away it is the less noticeable it would be.

If you're holding it. I watch with the iPad on a stand, not holding it, and am farther than arms length, approx. 25". Optimal viewing at 1080p is 1.5 - 2.5 x screen size -

At this distance I could see the lack of detail in buildings and faces in a 720p image.
