Tonight I decided to watch some netflix on the samsung home theater. We went to grab a bit so I paused it till we could get home. When we got back, I couldn't get the movie going again so I reached for my iPad and launched the netflix app. There was our movie at the top of the list ready to play. And it resumed from the same spot we left off before we went to dinner. The ipad netflix app worked well and saved our evening after our samsung netflix box seemed to have a case of temporary insanity.

The Netflix app is pretty cool, I just recently signed up for Netflix. I wish they had some of the new releases for streaming, I can't seem to find many at all most of the streaming movies are older movies i've already seen on cable and it seems like movies that you can rent at the store are not available yet on NetFlix even for mailing? I wanted to rent The Blind Side but it is not available on there until the 27th and it's been out at Blockbuster for awhile now. Are all the movies like this or only certain ones? I guess for 8.99 a month it's still a good deal to be able to stream movies on the go and the app itself is pretty killer, the movies you can get do look great and stream without any hiccups even over 3g.

I am not pleased with the Netflix app. They didn't really put any work into it. It is just like the Web interface but buggier. I hope they just rushed it for release and will update with something a bit more iPad friendly in the future.

Im hoping for an update soon also. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to have netflix on the go, but the app needs some work if it going to be as goods the web page.

I agree, although the idea is cool the implementation is cheap. I was confused and thought I downloaded a bookmark when I launched it.

It's weird how some apps work well for some but not for others. Netflix has been perfect for me. Works well on the PS3 and now my iPad, flawlessly.

They have.a big selection of HD movies I like so that's a big plus for me. I think it would be too much to ask for to get new releases soon. I have seen movies that just got to HBO or Starz streamed.

It's nice that Netflix.com hands off playback to the Netflix app, and then when you are done seamlessly puts you back in Safari right where you left off.

.

Same as you on ps3 and ipad both are flawless for me.

Didnt work at all for me thanks to the iPads horrible wifi problems. The movie would pause every 4-5 minutes while it waited for connection to re-establish for a good 30-45 seconds. Anything that streams is pretty much useless until Apple fixes this wifi issue. I will stick with renting from itunes for now, plus, itunes has HD downloads.

I have been pretty vocal with netflix issues on the iPad. I did however manage to watch a whole movie on it recently.yay!!!!

Still looks like some tweaks need to be done to the memory management and I don't think it's a wifi, more so a issue with netflix app not recognizing the proper bit rate when analyzing. Seems like some routers are affected while others are not.

Also changing from WEP to WPA didn't make a difference.

Maybe that's the problem I have both HBO and Starz on my cable box. Maybe I should switch to Cinemax and Showtime, are those movies also on NetFlix?

I went back to netflix.com to rate the movie I watched and it still showed I had 45 minutes remaining, so the iPad app failed to upload my progress to netflix when I was done with the movie. So while it worked well for watching and I saw no glitches, the app needs a little work.

Is that a big problem?

No, not really. Which is why I'm delighted with the netflix app overall. But the app did quit abnormally when I tried to stop the movie. Not syncing my current location across devices could be a problem if I chose to start a movie on my iPad and I was faced with fsstforwarding on another device. One thing that does not work well with streaming content is seeking to a location. It's not like fast forwarding a DVD.

back in the day...

you'd wait for marginal improvements in running software. Today folks are complaining about the interface being too "web like."

Of course it'll be improved. But this app is delivering from day ONE!

Thanks Netflix. :p

Gotcha.

I never had a netflix account until I brought my iPad and loving it so far I even finally activated my account on my Xbox:D
