I think Netflix streaming is down. I can't stream right now, over Wifi or 3G. Keep getting an error.. "Sorry we could not reach the netflix service."

Anyone else? The 1-866 number is not accepting calls at the moment.

Its working for me so try it now.

And whats the deal with netflix streaming anyway? They say they want to become more of a streaming service then a dvd loaning service but their streaming selection stinks. Hardly any new movies are available; they didnt even have the original SPiderman available to stream yet. Is there some kind of deal in which some movies can't be streamed?

Yes. The movie's companies want to you buy the movies or pay rental on a one off basis. They don't like subscription services where you can view anything, as that is not currently a maximized revenue generator for them. So they only offer old crappy movies for streaming subscription services, at least until a new contract is negotated, which might not be for awhile.

Even paying for individual rentals is still limited, because the movie companies still want you to buy a first run movie at least for those with little patience, so they delay the rentals.

Combine that with the fact that even purchased online movies still have DRM, the movie industry is where the record industry was 5+ years ago, and will be there for some time to come.

They do offer better TV shows more readily, mainly because you can find most of them for free on the internet anyway.
