I recently bought an ipad (2 days ago) and everything has been awesome. I had heard many people rave about the cool netflix app to stream video, so I just had try it out.
So, last night I began by streaming an episode of The Office and WOW. The quiality is just awesome. Very impressive. The video is smooth and loaded quickly. I then tried watching Up. Again, SO impressive. Amazing quality being streamed very quickly.
I was wondering if anyone knew if Netflix streams video in HD? Was The Office and Up in HD?
Also, would Hulu Plus stream in HD? If so, I might just consider paying monthly.
Watching these videos on an iPad, especially in low lighting with high brightness just looks AMAZING. Even more impressive was that the battery lasted so long!
Just thought I would share that I am very satisfied with my purchase :)

Hopefully you only use wifi. Netflix streaming will certainly eat up AT&T's new 2GB capped 3G plan pretty quickly.

I believe that Netflix scales the quality of the stream to your connection. I don't believe they stream in HD though. When I stream over my ps3 it still looks great...I'd say almost dvd quality. When I have a strong connection on my ipad it is the same.

If the connection isn't that great though, it will scale down and not look as good.

I gotta agree, using the iPad for Netflix is just amazing. I took it as far grabbing the apple component video-out cord and using it as a portable netflix box to hook up to our big-screens. Just about watched the entirety of Doctor Who this way.

I get HD quality streamed to my TiVo but I don't know if they do that to the iPad especially over 3G. The Netflix app is solid and I have little complaints even over 3G.

I wouldn't personally pay for Hulu Plus so I couldn't comment on that experience.

I can't wait until the Netflix App comes to the iPhone. I thought it was supposed to be out already. Geez.

Well, I have the wfi ipad, so all my streaming is done over a good connection and the quality is great. I know paying for Hulu is a big downer, but I can't get over having all of these great shows streaming in great quality on my iPad! it would be so great to be able to watch them at school/on the road without having to cary my huge mbp!
