I just got my new AppleTV set up and found that Netflix only streams in 2.0 (not 5.1). Is this correct, or am I missing something to get it to stream in 5.1 surround. Thanks.

Silverlight is 2 channel only.

I'm not sure if atv uses it but macs do and it's only 2 channel.

MS is working on 5.1 but they need to code for it. There's a demo on the web somewhere where they stream 5.1 with Silverlight.

Netflix doesn't stream in 5.1 on ANY device or platform yet. Not even computers or game systems. I hear they are planning on adding 5.1 at the end of the year.

Correct

I just finished watching Ironman on Netflix. Great picture but only 2 channel sound. I hope you are right that they will add 5.1 soon. This will complete the Netflix trifecta.

1. Good interface. (ATV)
2. Good picture.
3. Good sound. (Dolby 5.1)

Not correct at least for Netflix in Canada. Some of the movies clearly identify that they are HD and some show 5.1 icons as well in the movie info on my PS/3. The Scorpion King played in full DD5.1 via my receiver with no issues from the Playstation 3.

My new ATV2 is a different story though. Same movie only plays in stereo so something is definitely amiss with the Apple version of Netflix. I called Apple today and they are checking into that. I'm wondering if Canadian Netflix is different than the U.S. and if the Apple app is only setup to work with stereo?
