Everytime I go into my netflix to start a video it says "Netlix cant be reached at this time, try later or contact netflix" has anybody else gotten this message? what do i do?

I get that fairly regularly. I switch to my PS3 or XBox360 and things work fine...

This seems to happen to me too every week or so. Not sure why as it seems fairly random. Rebooting the Apple TV 2 by unplugging/replugging the power cable does the trick for me.

Same here.... last night even a reboot wouldn't fix it. Good thing I have a PS3. I'm hoping the new ATV update that just came out fixed this issue

Just checked Netflix after the update--seems to work fine--and now with 5.1 on programs where it is available--great news there!

The real test for me will be later tonight. Seems to be the worst during late evenings. If it's not dropping audio and buffering, it flat out says "Netflix not available, try again later"

Made it through 4+ hours of streaming during the historically worst time frame without any issues. Hate to the jump the gun here, but it looks like this issue may be resolved.

I had a few issues last night after the update. Audio/Video sync issues about 10 minutes into a program, and the periodic "black screen with audio" problem.

I hate to say it, but it wasn't resolved for me.

Airplay, however, is nice. The ability to play movies direct from my iphone camera roll is nice also.

I just wish this could be my primary Netflix box - in it's current state it isn't as reliable as my Roku.

I have 2 aTVs, and they both exhibit the same symptoms.

I have been considering buying an Apple TV and subscribing to Netflix so movies can be streamed to my HDTV.
However, I have been hearing about problems with Apple TV and Netflix.
Would you recommend going this route?

I was able to watch netflix on the ATV for the first time in over a month last evening after the update. I successfully watched both HD and SD TV shows which have been my source of problems in the past. I also did so between peak hours of from 7:30-10:30 ET.

I'm hoping the netflix experience is back to the way it was when I first purchased the ATV!

I think there are really too many variables to know if the blame is on ATV or other issues out of your control. I personally love my ATV and have not had any issues with Netflix or any other service--and the same can be said about my Roku which I have mostly to watch movies from Amazon. Someone pointed out to me that one possible advantage to ATV is the large onboard 8GB RAM which does seem to help eliminate buffering issues--something that is a huge problem with my Samsung Blu Ray when I use it for any Internet services.

NO!!! I have Netflix on several other devices (WDTV Live+, LB Bluray, etc) and it works fine. The :apple:TV2 interface is spiffy but it is worthless if it keeps freezing or won't even let you connect. So far the :apple:TV2 has been a huge disappointment for me, and I loved the original version.

Why such a wide range of issues with ATV? For some--like me--it works great--for others--not so good. Has to be more to it than just problems with ATV.

Could very well be.

But I do have 2 Roku units in my home - and when aTV goes haywire (screen goes black, audio/video goes out of sync, random pauses) using Netflix, we switch over to Roku and pick up where we left off with no audio/video problems.

I love my aTV for iTunes content, and all of my movies reside on my Imac and are shared through iTunes to both of my aTV 2 units..photos are also great. But Netflix is bad.

Of course, when you go over to the Roku forum you will hear about all the problems people have there--I've not had any problems with my Roku either--only with my Samsung Blu Ray which seems to have serious buffering problems with many Internet apps. Then again, I have not had either device that long so I may be premature with my optimism.
